The leaders of this mission have actively been building this immersive library on http://jied.org. They are actively trying to achieve several essential objectives. One of these is not only creating the interface, but also deciding on what content is posted upon it. They want to post relevant and usuable content that is keeping with up with the times. However, in an age where yesterdays technology is considered ancient this is difficult. This is also an objective, to define what the neccesary informantion that should be posted. Now with a project like this one, all the man hours and personell it takes to create it takes alot of money and the actual funding of the project needs to be actively pursued.
Once this interface is created, it opens up infinite of doors! With collabortive computing still in its infancy the usuage and benefits are already widespread. This is only projected to grow, and doing so this interface needs to have several components. There must be personell that are able to act as a help line for the users as standard librarians do. however, these "librarians" would be doing so remotely. This is one of the objectives, to be able to effectively communicate via text chat vid cam or audio mediums. This would be just as effective as the real world libraries, however it offers a convienence that is unparrelled. Not only does it promote collaborative and conveient knowledge search, but also is an incredible networing vehicle! People researching and learning similair information or participationg on the same project will all be focused into one forum where they can actively communicate with each other! This online community will pay dividends to all its users.
Another great societal benefit will be offered through JIED, this interface can be used to educate and entertain at risk youths, or youths without access to these textbooks for whatever reason. It is obvious JIED is keeping up with the times and offering a convienent , yet essential product. The maintanence and up keep of the site will be imperative moving forward, this site has a bright future. Check it out at
